Pause and reflect when your thoughts feel loud

Some days move so fast that you don't realize how overwhelmed you are until your thoughts are already running the show. A pause can help you notice what's happening before you react from that place.

This kind of reflection doesn't need to be long. It just needs to be honest.

START BY PAUSING

Pause for a moment and take a breath.

You don't need to fix everything in that moment. You're only trying to notice what's true right now.

NOTICE WHAT IS HAPPENING INSIDE

Ask yourself: What am I feeling right now? What thought keeps coming back? What feels hardest to carry in this moment?

NAME WHAT MIGHT BE UNDERNEATH

Sometimes what looks like irritation is exhaustion. Sometimes what looks like shutting down is overwhelm. Sometimes what looks like numbness is disconnection.

You don't need the perfect word. Try to get close.

CHOOSE ONE NEXT STEP

Ask yourself: What would help me feel a little more steady right now?

That next step might be rest, water, a short walk, a message to someone you trust, or writing down what's on your mind.

A NOTE FROM US

A pause won't solve everything. It can still help you respond with a little more care and a little less autopilot.
