# Can you provide a mental health diagnosis, or prescribe medication?
## We do not offer diagnostic services, or medical prescription management.
## Can Shift Collab therapists diagnose or prescribe medication?
No. At Shift Collab, we work with Registered Social Workers (RSWs) and Registered Psychotherapists (RPs). Neither RSWs nor RPs are permitted to diagnose or prescribe medication.
## Who can conduct a mental health assessment or prescribe medication?
Only a medical doctor (a family doctor or specialist psychiatrist) or a licensed psychologist can conduct a full mental health assessment and provide supporting documentation. Of these, only a medical doctor is covered by OHIP and can prescribe and manage medication.
- **Medical doctor (family doctor or specialist psychiatrist):** Can conduct a full mental health assessment, provide documentation, prescribe medication, and is covered by OHIP.
- **Licensed psychologist:** Can conduct a full mental health assessment and provide supporting documentation, but cannot prescribe medication and is not covered by OHIP.
